Get To Know What In-Home Supportive Service (IHSS) Is
In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is a program in Colorado that provides assistance to eligible aged, blind, and disabled individuals who are unable to remain safely in their own homes without the aid of a caregiver. The program allows individuals to hire caregivers, including family members and friends, to provide in-home supportive services, such as personal care, housecleaning, meal preparation, and other essential services.
Financial Requirement
In order to qualify for In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), the applicant’s income must be at or below 138% of the federal poverty level, and they must have less than $2,000 in non-exempt assets. Additionally, there are special rules for spousal impoverishment that may apply if one spouse needs IHSS services while the other does not. These rules may allow the couple to retain additional assets and income.
